Liz and Wes are one of the kindest, most chilled out couples you’ll ever meet. Having already been together for 12 years, they saw their elopement day as a celebration of the chapters already lived, as well as the ones still to come. Isn’t that lovely?

They knew they didn’t want all the pomp and circumstance that comes with a traditional wedding, so they decided to ‘run away’ to the Moab desert instead, with just their absolute closest friends in tow. Want to keep your elopement day relaxed? That’s the first step: go somewhere that inspires you, and only invite the few people who you know will add to – not detract from – the ambience you’re trying to create. Everyone else? You can celebrate with them when you get home!

Liz and Wes began their day with a sunrise hike to Corona Arch, one of our favorite locations in Moab. It’s MASSIVE and wildly impressive but, since it’s not inside the national parks, it has only a tiny fraction of the crowds you might associate with Moab. Especially at sunrise!

After a sweet first look, where Wes got to see Liz all dressed up in her recycled materials Reformation gown and EPIC crown by Toni at Tangled Sage, these two sweethearts scrambled all over the rocks, exploring every corner of the crazy red landscape, and then settled in for a breakfast of Tofurkey sandwiches. We told you… Chilled!

After a midday break, we met back up again in the late afternoon for their ceremony with friends. All the friends shared a reading for Liz and Wes and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house! After they shared super sentimental vows – there’s a lot of love packed into those 12 years – it was our absolute pleasure to pronounce Liz and Wes MARRIED AT LAST!!!!

We all spent the evening basking in the glow of the desert sun, exploring some more super cool locations, and eating cupcakes straight out of the box coz, y’know…. Chilled!
