A FULL-DAY MOAB ADVENTURE
With Sasha & Danny
BY CHAD AND VANESSA, ‘THE OUTLOVERS’: YOUR ELOPEMENT AND SMALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM
Sasha and Danny are the epitome of an adventure-loving couple. Rarely can you find them in their own house of a weekend: they LIVE for road trips, hiking and exploration, and make it a point to do something exciting at every available opportunity.
When they got in touch to plan their desert vow renewal, they simply told us they wanted something unique and epically beautiful and then put absolute faith in us to find an awesome destination for them.
Oh heck yeah: challenge accepted!
We LOVE researching new locations – pawing over maps, travel forums, hiking blogs etc. – and are always on the lookout for that ‘hidden gem’. When we stumbled across an intriguing little spot in Utah we knew we’d hit the jackpot.
The following conversation with Sasha and Danny went something like this:
US: Have you ever heard of Valley of the Gods in Utah?
US: It’s a stunning, hardly known little corner of desert. Wanna go?
THEM: Heck yeah!
US: Are you cool to meet us there, a mile down a dirt track in the pitch black ready for sunrise?
THEM: Sure thing!
Like Sasha and Danny, it’s very likely you’ve never heard of the Valley of the Gods: it is a lesser known area of the Utah desert than the nearby national parks, but is equally as beautiful. Tucked away in the south east corner of the state, just two hours south of Moab, it sees very few visitors. If you’re looking for a peaceful desert location for an elopement, anniversary celebration or vow renewal, this might just be it!
We met Sasha and Danny bright and early, so they’d have plenty of time to help each other get ready out the back of their trusty Jeep, before enjoying the desert sunrise. We LOVE meeting our couples in the dark, when they’ve got no real clue where they are, and then seeing their faces light up as the landscape slowly reveals itself around them!
We’re in love with the wacky formations of the south-western deserts and sunrise here NEVER disappoints. Watching the light play along the red rock walls of the surrounding ‘mesas’ and towering ‘buttes’ with not another soul around is utterly magical and gives a real sense of being enveloped by nature.

Sasha and Danny excitedly explored the area for a while, climbing up rocks to get a better view: it seems there’s something more and more mind-blowing around every turn in the desert! They soon found the most gorgeous spot for their vow renewal. In fact, it couldn’t have been more perfect as it overlooked the distant Colorado mountains where they first got married. We all got a little teary eyed as Sasha and Danny reflected on the life they’ve built together and the little family they’ve created.
After celebrating with a decadent champagne picnic, we took a drive up the ‘Moki Dugway’, a crazy road winding straight up the side of a steep, cliff-like mesa. This is NOT an undertaking for the travel sick, those with a fear of heights or for the general faint of heart…. But for adrenalin-junkies like Sasha and Danny? Heck yeah!
We couldn’t believe the views when we got to the top: we were looking right out over the seemingly endless desert, with the wild silhouette of Monument Valley in the distance.
The views were breathtaking, especially as a storm rolled in in the distance, turning the sky thundery grey and lashing rain down onto the horizon.
What a way to finish up such a beautiful day!
We so enjoyed this desert vow renewal and were super inspired by how Sasha and Danny choose to live their lives, prioritizing love and adventure above all else.
If you’re ready to take YOUR love on an adventure, get in touch! We’d love to help you create the experience of a lifetime.
