A Winter Adventure In Ouray With Snow-Shoeing And Cozy Cabin Time
Alexandria and Michael are planning elopement photos with us across all four seasons! We got off to an incredible start with Winter in the Colorado mountains…

When Alexandria and Michael first reached out to us, they shared their photography dream: to have elopement photos in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, to symbolize their promise to love each other through all the seasons of life.
How romantic is that?!
So, for their elopement day itself, we checked (and double checked!) that Winter box, hitting up Ouray on a perfect bluebird day: lots of snow on the ground, but with blue skies and a warm sun. And, as 2025 progresses, we’ll be hanging out 3 more times to get them photos in all the seasons! It’s just the coolest concept and we’re so excited for it.
For their Winter elopement, Alexandria and Michael rented a beautiful wooden cabin, knowing that if the weather got bad they’d want somewhere cozy to retreat to. We spent the first part of their day at the cabin, slowly getting ready, enjoying a first look in the garden and getting some photos with their beloved doggo, Fen.
Before going any further, we have to pause and take a moment for the outfits!! Alexandria wore a gorgeous Sottero and Midgley beaded gown with a long sleeved cape to go over it, which was absolutely PERFECT for the Winter vibes (then for Spring and Summer she’s going to switch the cape out for a veil).
And Michael is really passionate about alternative men’s fashion, with a particular focus on Japanese designers. We know NOTHING about fashion and we’re not going to attempt to describe his outfit (and risk butchering the designers’ names and doing a massive injustice to their talent) but, daaaaaaaaaaamn, we CAN tell you how stylish he looked! It was truly a unique vibe and we loved how it was such an act of self-expression for him on his wedding day. Don’t be afraid to be different, dudes!

Leaving the cabin, we headed off to one of our favorite little overlooks to get started: we knew this area would have some snow but still be very easily accessible, so it would be an easy place to hold their ceremony, without tackling toooooo much snow. Alexandria and Michael shared vows with majestic mountains surrounding them on all sides, and then we set off deeper into the mountains to explore and celebrate…
Alexandria and Michael donned show shoes for the first time and had so much fun marching out into waaaaaay deeper snow to get the best views and killer photos! They soaked up the sunset and enjoyed a first dance as the sun dipped below the horizon. Aaaaaaand they were even treated to a wedding day MOOSE!! We always love sharing a little wildlife encounter with our couples.
Then it was back to the cabin to warm up! They had hired a private chef and he was ready and waiting for them when they got back, with a multi-course feast prepared. It looked sooooo good and used tons of local ingredients which we love.
To wrap up their amazing day, we popped out of the cabin into the chill of night to enjoy a little bit of stargazing!
Wow you two, what a day! What a season! We can’t wait for our Spring adventure….
