A GRAND ADVENTURE IN THE REMOTE UTAH DESERT

Camille and Matt’s elopement day was so jam packed with beautiful goodness, we can’t wait to share it all with you…

In the lead up to their day the weather forecast looked pretty baaaaaad quite frankly. But Camille and Matt took it all in their stride and simple said ‘A little rain never harmed anyone’: with this perfect attitude they went into their day feeling relaxed and open to whatever came their way.⁠

Well, in the end, they were graced with an absolutely glorious morning and the most perfect sunrise!⁠ We met in the early hours at Goblin Valley State Park, a seriously underrated GEM in the remote Utah desert, that sees a FRACTION of the tourists that the more well known spots attract.

After a romantic first look, Camille and Matt enjoyed some time wandering around the crazy landscape, just soaking in the mind-boggling views, before finding the most perfect little nook for their ceremony. Camille is a nurse, and shared some marriage advice from her older patients and, ooft, it got us all right in the feels!⁠

To celebrate, they tucked into a super fun picnic of pizza, supermarket cake and Dr Pepper, coz THAT’S what makes them happy… And that’s what elopements are all about. No silly airs and graces just to impress other people.⁠ They spent the time reading letters from their loved ones, which is the sweetest way to involve folks back home in a meaningful way if you’d like to.

After enjoying their picnic, Camille and Matt ventured a little ways into a super cool slot canyon. We deliberately didn’t go too far as rain was on the radar, and you NEVER want to be deep in a slot canyon if there’s even any chance of a flash flood. But it was just enough to get a sense of the sheer scale of the canyon and capture a few cool photos!⁠

Aaaaaand…. By the time we were walking out, it was SNOWING! Yes. In the desert. In the middle of April.⁠ Wild times!

By the time we met up for sunset that evening, the weather was NUTS! Black skies all around, as far as the eyes could see, and a HOWLING wind. But, ohhhhh my, was it moody and dramatic! We had a blast, running around grabbing fun photos, then trying to shelter from the wind which seemed to come from all directions. Camille and Matt were such troopers and just embraced the adventure!⁠

We called it quits just in time and, as we parted ways, the skies open up and it DUMPED rain for the rest of the evening. But by then, Camille and Matt were snuggled up back in their cabin… MARRIED!

Ahhhh, this was the kind of elopement experience that makes you feel ALIVE. Congrats Camille and Matt, we’ll never forget your day.
